The Story.
Created in honor of Rev. A. Dale Catlin and Mary Etta Catlin, parents, pastors and peacemakers.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9
Dale and Mary Etta Catlin spent nearly fifty years in ministry serving local churches and traveling often overseas as members of the world conference in their denomination. After retiring, they spent several months in 1990 serving as missionaries in Sumatra, Indonesia. While there, Dale captured in a poem words that would become the inspiration for the peace cross.
All children cry
In the same language
The self same cry
Arises from the dispossessed
The hungry and the poor
Who fling their songs
Against the wealth
Of cities who will not hear.
All children do cry in the same language, and perhaps their greatest hope is when more of us learn the language of peace. As you wear this cross, may you be a peacemaker, and may you enjoy the peace that comes from the hope that one day peace will reign.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Isaiah 26:3
